FOR FRIDAY??!!

Hello all

My understanding is that we should be producing the following for Friday;

  • define site boundaries
  • transfer SWOT info on to a plan
  • produce initial sketch design
Any advances on that?
Lets be in contact to decide who is doing what and when......

Seagulls

Dear all... sorry its a bit late - but here is my eye-sore-it.

Copenhagen 2 Island Brygge Swimming

Existing waterfront in Copenhagen - public pool (river water) floats and changes level with tide

Copenhagen 1 - Waterfront Proposal

re-posted from Landscape and Urbanism Blog -
'borrowing' of the water for habitable space is a great way to extend the edge perimeter fo the waterfront, as well as allowing for people to penetrate and interact with the water. Look at this in the image above in relation to the more traditional waterfront edge on the other side of the bank. Some greenery on this proposal would be nice though as it's looking a bit bare... -

Great example of eating into the river to gain usable space

Varanasi

Thought we should have a look at Varanasi - fantastic links to the river - but no green!?

DROPBOX invite

Hello all, you should be receiving an invitation to Dropbox - for file sharing. I think it is a max of 3GB at the moment, but think we can increase it.

Good start today - see you all on Friday at 9am(ish) in the Digital Studio

Precedents

As a starting point and along similar lines of Varanasi, reconnection of Lyon with the River Rhône:    http://www.landezine.com/index.php/2011/06/rhone-river-banks-by-in-situ-architectes-paysagistes/

As the Thames isn't straight, do we need to think in such linear terms?
